What a 3,000-unit delivery demands from a headlight factory — and where these lights end up.
Nanchang, China — Micare Medical has completed delivery of a single order for 3,000 MB-JD2900 LED surgical headlights, produced for a distribution customer and delivered in 50 days, from late August to mid-October. One model, one order, one delivery programme.
A quantity at this level is a production question before it is a sales one — what has to be true inside a factory for 3,000 identical headlights to leave it in one run, 50 days after the order was placed.

What delivering 3,000 units in one order requires
Fifty days leaves little slack: material is committed before the line starts, and nothing can be left until the end.
Output that stays identical. A headlight is judged on a beam that looks the same on every unit. That depends on LEDs being selected within a narrow colour-temperature band and the optics assembled to the same tolerance each time. At small volumes a line can hand-pick; at 3,000 the process has to hold by itself.
Battery supply secured in advance. Every unit ships with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery — the component most exposed to supply variation, and the one whose failure appears latest, in the customer’s hands rather than at incoming inspection. A single run of 3,000 means the cells are committed before production starts, not sourced piecemeal.
Traceability through the batch. Production runs under an ISO 13485:2016 quality management system, which requires device history records and component traceability. On a run this size, that is the only way to answer a question about one specific unit a year after it shipped.
Logistics planned as part of production. Three thousand cloth boxes at 0.5 kg gross comes to roughly 1.5 tonnes before outer cartons, with labelling and a document set that has to match the destination market. Packing configuration is settled before the last unit comes off the line, so the consignment can be received, split and resold without rework.
The headlight in this order
The MB-JD2900 is a 7 W LED surgical headlight built on LED refractive optics rather than a fibre-optic cable and remote light source.
It delivers up to 90,000 lux with adjustable brightness across three settings, at a colour temperature of 4,300–5,300 K. The lamp head rotates on its mount, so the beam is aimed by turning the head instead of resetting the headband. The spot is fixed at 100 mm at a 420 mm working distance — a specification that defines who the light suits, and one buyers should check against the distance their clinicians actually work at.
The head weighs 175 g and runs 5 to 12 hours per charge, with a four-hour recharge. LED life is rated at 50,000 hours, which in normal clinical use is a lifetime-of-device figure rather than a maintenance interval.
Where these headlights are sold
The MB-JD2900 is specified for ENT, dental, examination, aesthetics and veterinary work — procedures at short working distance, where a light is worn for hours and a 175 g head with long runtime matters more than another few thousand lux.
That is why this model, rather than the 15 W version at 150,000 lux, is the one distributors build catalogues around. Higher output belongs in deep-cavity surgery at greater distance. For clinic and practice customers, weight, runtime and price-to-specification ratio decide the sale.
FAQ
How many headlights were delivered? A: 3,000 units of the MB-JD2900 in a single order, produced and delivered as one run.
Can the spot size be adjusted? A: No. The spot is fixed at 100 mm at a 420 mm working distance; brightness is adjustable. Buyers who need to switch between narrow and wide fields should choose a model with an adjustable spot.
Is 90,000 lux enough for clinical work? A: It is sufficient for ENT, dental, examination, aesthetics and veterinary procedures at short working distance. Deep-cavity work at greater distance calls for the higher-output models in the same range.
What is included in each box? A: One headlight and one rechargeable battery, in a cloth box of 0.5 kg gross. A second battery is normally ordered for full-day use.
