MB-JD2000 Refractive Optical Engine — A Different Approach to Surgical Illumination

Unlike direct-emission LED arrays, the MB-JD2000 uses a lens-based refractive optical path:

• Light from the LED die passes through a precision-ground aspheric condenser lens

Color fidelity rationale — why 5,500K, not 4,000K or 6,500K alone: At 5,500K, the spectral power distribution most closely matches the CIE standard illuminant D55 (midday daylight). This is the reference illuminant under which human color discrimination is calibrated. At 4,000K, reds shift orange; at 6,500K, blues oversaturate. For ENT surgeons distinguishing inflamed tissue from healthy mucosa, the difference is clinical — not cosmetic.
